MakeHuman

Christoph  wrote:
Once started as a Blender-script for the creation of human models, MakeHuman has grown into an independent application. Currently a new release is approaching but they need help from 3d artists with their model database. Anybody interested in helping them out might want to take a look at their blog.

too bad there's no "make veggie" option yet…
I wonder if they would consider this for their database…

@ amdbcg: yeah, I agree, "make veggie" would be an improvement to any project! But why is Larry blue?

MakeHuman is a great project. It has definitely developed over the years. I remember back when it was a Blender script and the only thing you could modify was the character's face.

MakeHuman is an excellent app, and the user interface keeps getting better. If they could get some artists chipping in to help with their ethnicity database, the result could be awesome. (I'd help if I could, but unfortunately I'm better on the tech side and it looks like they are all set there…)

A MakeVeggie fork would be nifty :-). And how about a MakeMonkey, for some friends for Suzanne?

    Brian Treacy–I don't think that's Larry, it's the Snoodle from A Snoodle's Tale.

Sorry, don't have any human model submissions, but looking forward to trying out the program once the new version is released! Using the program is not excuse for learning how to model a human, but rather another useful resource to the community. cya

that is, using MakeHuman is fine, but I should not use it to replace learning how to model a human. ;D

Sounds like a pretty cool app. Reminds me a bit of Pixar's standard man which was used to model all the all the extras in the Incredibles. Well am about to enter a human modelling contest so I will find just how well I can model a person after that who knows maybe I chip in I will definately download the current version and play around with it over the weekend.
