Can anyone tell me how the plants wre made for the blender foundation recent movie? Using this script or modeled by hand?

  2. 2 Leonardo

Great! I've been using LSystem recently, and these tutorials should come in handy.

@Agile: I believe if I can recall that they used the new Tree From Curves script for the plant creation in Big Buck Bunny.

@ DJ_Boxer: Thanks! I will check it out!

    Sorry guys,
compared with professional tree-generators it looks not realistic!
No way for putting it into a scene!!

  6. 6 Sago

@cgspecial, it all depends on how you use it. We used it for BBB, and it worked for us:

But yeah, it's not easy. But that's normal for complex shapes like trees.

oh man fantastic! when i was first learning blender lsystem really helped me with trees when i was new, it was like magic =)

Though the examples arn't produced by an amazing artist they give a run down to all the different sliders which i think is a great addition to learning the system.

Years ago I was able to create great stuff and I've played with it just a few minutes as i post this and I'm starting to get some very great results.

As Sago pointed out different plugins for different styles and needs =)

Thanks heaps Fmurr for the update!

    hi,
If you have a look here:
    http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Scripts/Manual/Wizards_Menu_Toolkit
you will find the latest l-system build.
    L-System v3.3.15 the "Forest Build"
It has a new interface & cool feature set. (many new features)
Although this is a testing version of the script, it is very polished.
    The updates include:
Edit multiple tree configs at once
    Tabbed configuration sections
    Placement options, including:
place a cursor, grid, selected object
regenerate option (so the script works like it used to and regenerates the last object)
Matching rot/scale options when placed at 'marker' object location
place multiple trees at once from single or multiple configurations (the forest)

The welcome tutorial by Fmurr is still applicable & very useful.
    thanks to aeonsien from http://lsystem.liquidweb.co.nz/Home/tabid/117/Default.aspx
    for the script updates.
    Brendon.

Nice work. Most impressive implementation of L-System. You'd be surprised how realistic you'll be able to get with a bit more time and patience, but again, it is down to how you want the look and feel to be I guess.

I always thought that the L-system was now absolute due to the tree from curves script?

I never had much luck with the L-system back in it's early days. But I probably didn't understand it well enough.

hi, I've uploaded some new texture maps for the script.

    Thanks again,
