ProMotion studios (of Lighthouse and Slimers fame) have started an ambitious project: a 26 part animated TV series. Check out some early artwork!

A quick note from us at ProMotion Studios to say we've just launched a production blog for our inhouse project "Kajimba" which is in production on a 100% Blender pipeline.

It's the story of Kajimba, a dry and dusty place in the middle of Australia and all the locals with nothing better to do all day than drink at the local pub.

It's a 26 part 3d animated series, with Episode 1 underway and all assets built and tested.

The blog is live at www.kajimba.com where we'll keep it regularly posted with news, images and production stuff.

    wow…

this is going to push blender a lot in terms of being production tested and increased exposure…

    exciting times for blender indeed!!!

    Awesome! :)

Anyone else beside me, who'd buy a making-of dvd, showing the complete production process from start to finished product? Creature factory was a very good start, but doesn't have any team-related work (obviously, since it was a one man project. ;) ) and nothing on storydesign, etc.

I love reading these development articles/blogs. Look forward to the updates.

great pics, if all series is going to be that good it will push blender much forward, speed up a change of seeing as a full-pro tool, witch will cause more intensive development – prpetum mobile, Newton would be supprised:)

    Nice project!
I'm working too on a TV serie of 40×40sec in belgium done with blender. But sadly, I don't have the right to show images for the moment.

You rendering is really good for a TV serie. Especially the work done on the feathers.
Can you give us some of your secrets?
AAO, SSS, feathers objects duplicated with the new particules system, transp raytraced shadows???

This is great news! I really like Cookie! The feathers are great. I would like to learn how to make the feathers like this for my macaw character. [Hint, hint! :-) ]

Nice renders! I don't know that I will like the story if it contains too many bad jokes, etc.

  13. 13 Bassam

my only question: will they have ( rippin' ) ozzie accents? If so, I am so sold.

    Hey all
Yeah this project will be published online, at least the first episode anyway which is as far as our tiny minds can see.
Plenty of solid scripts to go forward with though and already we've had some seriously high profile actors express interest in working on it. We're recording Noelene's voice in a week and holy crap that will be funny… the actress is a legend in her field and will bring soo much to the character. I can't wait.

Anyway keep posted, we are definitely very close to showing animated tests and other work online.

    More characters to introduce too.

    ciao bella.

Good luck. I hope they find SOMETHING TO DO, rather than just sit and drink. seriously, thats not a good way to promote your series. sit around and drink?? some enjoy that BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THINKING when you are drunk. but unless you are showing it to drunk people, there'd better be a more compelling story. I'm assuming there is one, but the stated setting of the series doesn't make me want to watch it at all. Of course I will, since it is blender :)

  21. 21 Cyrr

great renders – as bassam already mentioned – if they have the ozzie dialect you got me…

  22. 22 RedJay

Haha, Bassam and Cyrr sound like my little brother, but yeah, ozzie accent is great!!!

  23. 23 James

Yup, Aussie accents all round, laying it on thick, but not so thick it's hard to hear… which will be difficult for us I think. And yes, SanDiego James, the scripts aren't really about doing nothing, it's just that's the motivation behind the series…what do you do when there's nothing to do…

Just put up another character render (thanks Matt)
    Reg the magpie.
