Hello, little JesterPrincess!

JesterPrincessBlender developer Nathan Letwory [JesterKing] became a father for the second time earlier today when his daughter Rafaëlla was born at 14:42 in Finland. Rafaëlla weighs 2820g and is 50,5cm tall. Both she and her mother are doing great.

We're happy to report that Rafaëlla looks significantly less grumpy than her big brother Rasmus [JesterPrince], who is reported to have developed a passion for human beat-boxing and (duh) Blender!

Blender 2.5 Winter Camp

The Institute for Network Cultures has invited the core developers of Blender to Amsterdam for a 'Blender sprint'.

Winter Camp is an event, organized by the Institute of Network Cultures and will take place 3-7 March ‘09 in Amsterdam. A dozen networks (each of which has 5-15 people) have been invited to work on their specific current topics. The Winter Camp will be a mix of presentations and work spaces with an emphasis on getting things done.

Compiling Blender: important new upgrade!

If you're compiling your own copy of Blender, then is may be important for you: Blender's build system has been changed to make it compatible with more distributions and also easier to use (I guess – all this CC_WARN, user_config.py and whatnot is really beyond me but I trust that Nathan and Olivier know what they're doing ;-)
