“In Dire Need” – Camera Mapping Breakdown

PSAid is a public service announcement (PSA) contest for U.S.-based college and university students. PSAid seeks entries of broadcast and print PSAs which explain the importance of appropriate international disaster relief and build support for international disaster relief work done by well-established, U.S.-based international disaster relief organizations.”

Colin writes:

A few weeks ago I made a 30-second PSA for a national contest focused on
disaster relief. Now, it looks like I’m one of only five finalists in the
country!

I just put together a brief overview of the visual effects process involved in
the creation of the short. I used matte paintings and camera projection to
replace the environment in the big reveal shot at the end. It was pretty
challenging, and took me over a week to complete! Of course I used Blender for
everything 3D:
