I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Thanks;) that image is part of a slow motion sequence i am working on right now. The dust consists of little stone like real sand. I made around ten of them in highres (5- 50k poly's per stone) then scatter it with particles and randomness.

    • I'm not sure I get you right, but 50,000 polys PER stone seems like a little overkill...unless you plan to render in 50k or something...I think even halo particles could pass at the detail level in that image.

      • you are half right with that resolution, but the original image is made for animation in HD. So you see all that tiny stones. rotating and flying in slow motion. I also made that sand stones so high detailed to use it maybe in a very closeup shot....and dont forget-> you can render Billions of polygones with the particles system and Blender and with cycles. ;)
