great job. Not sure why the dust is coloured but I like this image anyway. :)
Thanks;) that image is part of a slow motion sequence i am working on right now. The dust consists of little stone like real sand. I made around ten of them in highres (5- 50k poly's per stone) then scatter it with particles and randomness.
I'm not sure I get you right, but 50,000 polys PER stone seems like a little overkill...unless you plan to render in 50k or something...I think even halo particles could pass at the detail level in that image.
you are half right with that resolution, but the original image is made for animation in HD. So you see all that tiny stones. rotating and flying in slow motion. I also made that sand stones so high detailed to use it maybe in a very closeup shot....and dont forget-> you can render Billions of polygones with the particles system and Blender and with cycles. ;)
Yep, I can definitely see this all flying in slow-motion. Gonna add some majesty home run music to it? :)
