Quick tutorial to save you all the few minutes of fiddling about that I've just done ...

1) Add a domain and fluid object as normal
2) Add a control mesh of your choosing (i.e. just a normal old mesh of some sort)
3) Activate the control mesh for fluids and select the "control" button next to the "enable" button
4) Play about with your settings

There are also IPOs for the control mesh parameters (go to the IPO buttons and select "FluidSim" from the pull-down menu in the header.

That's about it. Enjoy!
