Fluid Control Build Available
Some might have heard lately that fluid simulations in Blender are getting a new major feature – Fluid Control (also known as ‘Magic fluid control’). Nils Thuerey developed the code and Daniel Genrich (Genscher) works on the integration and small fixes/enhancements.
Theres been some good progress lately and the first build is now up on graphicall.org for bug testing.
You can see the latest update on Daniel Genrich’s site, along with another update from earlier this month. Both pages have a short video demonstrating the new features.
The ‘experimental’ build can be downloaded from here. (note that at this stage only a windows version is available)

I came across the cubes the other day while trying to do some things with cloth (which failed btw). But that negative forces video… WOW!

I’m with richendes. Is there a Mac OS X build? I really want to try out this feature!!
Quick tutorial to save you all the few minutes of fiddling about that I’ve just done …
1) Add a domain and fluid object as normal
2) Add a control mesh of your choosing (i.e. just a normal old mesh of some sort)
3) Activate the control mesh for fluids and select the “control” button next to the “enable” button
4) Play about with your settings
There are also IPOs for the control mesh parameters (go to the IPO buttons and select “FluidSim” from the pull-down menu in the header.
