Flash Game with Blender Graphics

Studio Nonius uses as many open source products as possible in their pipeline. Sven Wittoeck writes:

The only commercial product used in this project was Adobe Flash. We used Blender and Yafray for 3D and the Gimp for post production. The backend of the application is written in PHP/MySQL and we use Open Office for our project management ;-)

Nonius is now exclusively using Blender for our 3D production pipeline. Moving away from 3DS Max took quite an effort, but we’re proud of our current workflow. Blender is our dream application!

At the moment we use Blender for most of our architectural, technical and illustration projects. We’re preparing our first animation projects; the first project will be a series of animations for toddlers.

While the game’s concept isn’t that spectacular (we’ve written about a similar game before), I do like how they designed it. It’s also a high-profile campaign that will put a lot of people in contact with Blender artwork.

As an interesting side note: their client, Essent, is preparing a mega-merger with my employer, Nuon. As I’m working in the internet department, I might very well end up working with Sven and his colleagues in the near future! ;-)
