Elephants Dream in 3D World Magazine’s ‘Indie 50’

Jim Thacker from 3D World Magazine writes:

Issue 102 of 3D World magazine, currently on sale, includes a DVD compilation of the magazine’s 50 greatest independent 3D animated shorts of the past decade — including The Blender Foundation’s own open source movie, Elephants Dream. Elephants Dream joins such award-winning shorts as Sejong Park’s Oscar-nominated Birthday Boy, Robert Bradbrook’s BAFTA-nominated Home Road Movies, and The Tale of How, winner of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival’s Special Distinction award. The films chosen for the disc span a huge range of genres, from Pixar-style comedy to abstract animation, mock-documentary and arthouse, and last over four hours in total.

The DVD also contains over seven hours of video training accompanying Weta Productions animation director Steve Lambert’s special 21-page project on modelling, texturing, rigging and animating a movie-quality dinosaur; models and textures worth over $700; and a full copy of imageSynth, Luxology’s texture-creation Photoshop plug-in, as sold for $99.
