DukDuk! A Blender Game

Glenn writes:

I’m the creative Director of a film and television company here in Melbourne (Australia) for a company called Iloura. I have been animating since 1981 and working in computer graphics since 1986.

As far as Blender is concerned, I’m an enthusiast only. I have it at work and I’m constantly saying to the guys.. Hey check this out,. it’s so much better in Blender. I bother them quite a lot. :) I use Max, Maya, Zbrush, anything that will get the job done and quite frankly I can see a time where Blender is going to be used in a production one way or the other. I don’t like to discount anything. I have been particularly impressed with Big Buck Bunny and have been doing mail outs to the animation department each time there has been a cool update on the blog.

My interest in the game engine is for prototyping games but also recently, thanks to the Video Texture plugin linking into the AR-toolkit, thinking about onset 3d visualisation for movies, and recording real time cameras around pre-animated scenes. There is so much going on with Blender it’s pretty exciting

As for DukDuk, I was impressed with the amount of python work running around in the BGE community but felt most of the games lacked eye candy. As that’s what I do, I thought I’d attack a game from that angle. What has stopped me has been my complete lack of programming – lateral thinking skills. Still, I’m happy with what I achieved. Another reason I had to stop was that work was getting in the way, and with that by day and three children to look after at night, DukDuk never had much of a future. :)
