From Jeremiah W.

Hello all fellow Blender heads! Recently (as in the past month) I created a commercial for the NewEgg commercial contest. You can see the commercial here, I am now a finalist in the contest, and hopefully will be one of the 20 people who will walk away with a prize from NewEgg.

I used Blender 3D for the camera, laptop, dollar sign, mail truck, ear phones, and 2 instances of the monitor. I was not satisfied with the mail truck..but I am not really good at modeling vehicles.

I could have used Blender to composite the first shot in the commercial, but it would have been a lot more difficult than After Effects, in which I had much more control.

    First comment……….sorry.

I really like the ad. Professional.

The only 'criticism' I would say is when it says 'fast shipping'. For the first two times that I watched it I thought it said 'bad shipping'.

But hey, this may just be because of the low sound quality anyway.

The sound quality was bad, and as you said, the mail truck definitely needed a lot of work. Throwing their slogan in there would have been a good idea, too. (Once you know, you NewEgg.) Overall, good job on the concept and keep going!

Sound quality was due to compression. I did not know of NewEggs slogan, otherwise I probaly would have used it since I was having trouble coming up with a good ending as far as dialog. The judging will begin on the 25th I believe (I have not won anything *yet*, I am just a semi-finalist).

I am glad you all like it! :) I had a fun time getting it all together. If my commercial makes first place, it could be aired on cable…which would be really neat since I think it would be the first recorded time that Blender was used in a cable presentation.

    I like the add :-)

    Homey;

Way too much narration; too fast -get a rapper & slow down.
    Graphics were excellent!

Brief and Simple, conveys the message, liked the graphics, not overdone, at all suits the brand.

    Well done

Good job on the visuals. However, the audio was lacking a bit – Too much information. (simplify ?)

here's the one that I think looks ready to go – audio was just music & it was simple :

but anyways, good job :) your visuals were just what it needed :)

I thought you made a good effort. Some of the elements look great, but some do look a little rough. Myself, I also prefer more visuals and less talk, but that is just me. My one worry that might make them choose someone else is that you didn't mention their customer support. Several of the others did, which makes me think it may have been an element they wanted in the ad. Good luck with the contest.

Very pro lookin, as an expectator watching a comercial. As a blenderer some visuals need a bit of work. But then again your a normal person like the rest of us that just did " A small step for men, a giant leep for Blender". Keep going.
