CGSphere

The old joke is that the first render every new 3D artist makes is a chromecgsphere contest sphere on a checker plane. How would you like to take that to the next level and create the most captivating and visually appealing sphere render? How about sharing it with a few hundred others? CGsphere was created with exactly that purpose!

To participate use Blender to create your version of the sphere, just make sure to follow the rules, and to be creative.

To get started download the Blender file from the CGsphere project page. Then create something spectacular, register on CGsphere and upload it!

Take a look at two made by Matt (ie. broken@BA): sphere one and sphere two.

And a sphere by RobertT.

Want to see all submissions in one screen?

    http://www.cgsphere.com/gallery/?category=Show%20All&view=rating&artist=&main_app=&download=&limit=960&fimit=0

It takes some time to load the page containing all 960 spheres.

19 of the 960 are made with blender. That only 2%, so let's be creative an submit spheres

Wow, there's real Max/Lightwave lovefest going on over there. While there's no surprise about the number of Max entries, I am surprised by the number of Lighwave entries. I thought it was a Maya world these days. Heh heh.

Pretty much everything there is great, I love it all. Great stuff from everywhere.

Wow, what a great display of creativity! Such a simple concept, but so many of those submissions are so clever, regardless of what they used to make them.

Thanks for the heads up, really enjoyed looking through them and will probably keep visiting the CG Sphere page from time to time.

Talk about rough crowd. Even the best ones can't seem to crack 8 out of 10.
