The “Return of Blender” has been choosen by 3D World as a good cover slogan I guess. We all know we were never gone, but we we’ve been very busy indeed!
Although the final CGI for the new Discovery Series: Into The Universe with Stephen Hawking, was created with Maya, Blender was used for pre-vis and concept tests. Nathan Williams, one of the directors, found Blender a valuable tool in creating this ambitious series.
David Bolton brings us another of his Mancandy animations. “Mancandy reflects on the recent festive activities and what they mean to most people, and also gets an update on the Durian project. Warning: contains adult humor, some strong language – not suitable for children under 3 feet 6″.
“I just completed an animation of a bumblebee for a microgranting project. I’d love to share it with the blendernation community, and if there is interest I’dÂ love to share the rigs and write up a tutorial of some aspect of the production.”
Here’s a bunch of ID’s we made at Astral Media, a big television company in Canada, for Vrak.TV, a very popular channel for teenagers here in Quebec. We modeled, animated, and textured all the paper, frame by frame, using Blender.
We have just finished a music video for the band “Jack Daw”. They are the winners of a music contest called “Moviet” All the close-ups on the birds are made completely in Blender, and some of the “bird crowds” are made with Blender, others in Adobe AfterEffects. The video have been awarded for “Best Music Video 2009″ in “TellUs Movie Festival”
We recently used Blender in a few commercials we did for a company out of Virginia called “Woodfin”. In the commercial we made their mascot ‘Watch Dog’ talk. We targeted Blender as the ideal software for its ability to composite from within without having to export video or use additional software. This made the process of modeling, texturing, animating and compositing one fluid motion.
