Fresh Blender News, Every Day
We received word from Ton that Essential Blender is as good as ready to be shipped. Ton writes:
Right now the CD's are being inserted, and books get packed. Next week people can expect the books getting in the mailbox!
[insert obligatory remark to support the Blender Foundation by ordering this book ;-)]
A little while ago, I received a copy of Mobile 3D Graphics: Learning 3D Graphics with the Java™ Micro Edition from Thomson Course Technology, a publisher of a variety of technology and graphics-related books. Being eager to delve into the subject myself and knowing that there two chapters of the book devoted to the use of Blender for mobile 3D applications, I was very interested in seeing what the author, Claus Höfele, had to offer on the subject. As it turns out, the answer is "quite a bit."

Starting this summer another Blender book will be in progress by the talented Tony Mullen. And this one looks to be an exciting one. The one thing that really makes me smile about this book is that it will be in full color. And it will cover some of the deep mysteries involving simulations (hair, particles, etc.) in Blender.

Hello Blenderers,
It's been quite a wait, but at last Introducing Character Animation with Blender has hit the shelves! As of today, Amazon.comis listing the book as available. They've also enabled the feature of letting you search inside the book online, so you can see what you're getting into before placing an order. Still more good news is that as I write this, they still seem to be offering a 34% discount.

The Blender 2.0 Guide has long been sold out. However if you want to have a look at it, you can now turn to Google Books.
We were contacted by Blender.org's e-shop manager Anja who told us that after selling 4,000 copies, the Blender 2.3 Guide is now sold out and that they will not be printing any new ones. At this moment, you will only be able to find the 2.3 Guide on Amazon.co.uk

So, you want to make a movie.
It's probably every Blenderheads ultimate goal: Create your own animated masterpiece that let's everyone see the wonders of your creative imagination! Whether it's a comedy, drama, sci-fi, action, etc., you want to finally get around to creating something that allows you to bring all the knowledge and experience you've gained into one project.
But, where do you start? How do you get from point-A to point-B? And, most importantly, how do you finish the dang thing?! Oh sure, many have started projects but, how many actually finish them?
What you need is a highly-detailed guide. One that spares no detail and, is not based on any particular 3D software application. One that will illuminate things that seem so insignificant but, can ultimately make or break your entire project. Well, here it is:

Since the 5th of October, a new book about Blender by Olivier Saraja is available in France: "La 3D libre avec Blender" (which translates to "Free 3D with Blender"). It is around 356 pages, featuring some color plates by well known artists of the community (Stefan Zsolt, Robertt, Harkyman…).
In my adolescent years I had a friend who was very good at drawing. He could draw cartoons and accurately recreate what he saw. I was in awe if his ability especially since I could not even draw a human stick figure the same way twice. He was a “natural” artist. He tried to teach me and his first attempt was to get me to draw a short straight line. He made it look so easy!

It seems that everyone around the world has been busy writing Blender books! Earlier this week we already saw 'Introduction to Character Animation in Blender'. Now we've heard that a new Blender book was released in Japan last month: 'Blender Beginner's Bible', by Shinichi Tasaki.
Tony Mullen is finishing his upcoming book 'Introducing Character Animation with Blender'. From what I can see so far it is going to be a fantastic addition to the Blender library. I also think that it is a sign of the maturity of Blender that people are now writing books about specific Blender aspects (as opposed to books that try to cover Blender in its entirety).
