The granddaddy of all Blender contests, the Blender F1 Challenge, has entered its eighth round! If this is the first time you hear about it: this contest uses the term 'F1' very loosely: the ONLY design criterium required is that all entries must make use of an open-cockpit configuration common to contemporary Formula One cars. So far, the results have always been both surprising and inspiring.

NASA has started an intriguing contest which should be of interest to some of you. The contest encourages art & design students to work with engineering students to depict a scene of "life and work on the Moon." Most of you have wide-ranging interests of course, so chances are that a few of you are well-qualified to try this out.

With the end of SIGGRAPH 2007, a lot of cool stuff related to the conference and contests are showing up in the web. A video about FJORG! was released last week, showing that some team was using Blender during the competition! Yes, besides all the resources available like Maya, 3ds max and XSI, it`s really good to see a team using Blender.
While still a child in the Blender Universe of Forums, Blender-PT has already grown enough to sport his own contest.

Last week the CG Society has released their XXI CG Challenge, with a lot of interesting prizes. The subject for this contest is “Strange Behavior”. This is an unusual theme, and will result in a lot of funny images and animations.
The Blender World Cup topic is out. So all those who have signed up, get your pens out and start sketching your ideas. The competition will be fierce this year.
For anyone who hasn't signed up, there will be a prize for the 'Best of the Rest' so feel free to join in and hone your skills.
