The prizes for the Blender F1 Challenge have been announced.
BAM4 has begun over at BlenderArtists.org. Create an animation of at least 10 seconds using the supplied base .blend. You have four weeks after which the community will vote! Full details on BlenderArtists.
The results of the Seasteading design contest are in and voting is now open. May 13 and the winners will be announced May 15.
It's nice to see that Autodesk is open to other "free" software in their competition. This was sent to us by Chris Folea who wrote: "We recently created an animation for an Autodesk sponsored high school competition within the F.I.R.S.T (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics competition.

Award winning animator and the director of Elephants Dream, Bassam Kurdali, has begun production on his latest short 5min film entitled 'Tube'. The project has been in pre-production for several months and is now heading into the production phase.
The results of Campbell's YoFrankie level design contest are now online. The first, second and third place entries are certainly very nice and worthy of their prizes.

The Italian website Blender-Tutorial.com has organised a Blender tutorial writing contest. Prizes are a Western Digital 500GB Harddisk, a Canon A470 digital camera and a Microsoft Media Desktop keyboard+mouse. The deadline is 5 April 2009.
Two weeks ago I attended my first Blenducation class, taught by David Hickson (Dipingo) himself. The class cost 5$ and was on particle hair (and an array of other useful tools, such as texture painting, animated particle hair with softbodies, basic UV mapping, and so forth.)
At the end of the class, Dipingo came up with an idea: "We'll have a particle hair animation contest!" Well, he gave us two weeks to complete our entries and now the contest submissions have been sent in, so it's your turn to vote for the winner!

The first Blender animation challenge, held over at Blenderartists.org, has finished taking entries and is now in the voting stage of the challenge. There's a huge amount of entries, so it will be a bit of work sorting through them to find a favorite to vote for.
