I caught up with Shawn and Carlos again at this year's SIGGRAPGH in Los Angeles. We discuss some changes and milestones at AnimationMentor as well as what it's like to work at a big studio. One of this years Emerging Technology on display at SIGGRAPH, is a user interface that expands on the mouse and tablet concept. With this technology, there are different types controls that you use to manipulate the various objects on your screen. These control objects are sensed by the "tablet", they are neither electronic or wired to the tablet. I'm not quite sure how this will fit into the pipeline, but I was fascinated by the technology.
I put together a video tour of the SIGGRAPH 2008 Expo and some of the electronic art to try a give those of you who have never experienced SIGGRAPH a taste of it. The Expo is like a one giant collage of colors and sounds of technology. A place where art and technology collide. The video opens with a walk through some of the vendor exhibits in the early morning before most of the people arrive. It later then comes alive with the buzz of the exhibitors and attendees followed with some of the art.

It was a packed audience for all of the Blender B.O.F.s but especially for the Apricot gaming segment. It was so crowded, that people were sitting in the isles and standing at the door into the hallway.
Birds of a Feather events are proposed by SIGGRAPH 2008 attendees. They must be free of charge, related to computer graphics or interactive techniques, open to all SIGGRAPH 2008 attendees, and non-commercial in nature (topics specific to one commercial product or company are discouraged).
