Last week I visited the Blender Institute in Amsterdam, where I had a chance to talk to the members of the Peach team (and a member of Apricot as well!). I taped my conversations with them and for the next week, we'll publish one interview each day. Today part four: Sacha Goedegebure, Peach Director.

It looks like I'll be spending next Friday at the Blender Institute in Amsterdam! I'll have time to see how everyone is doing, taste the atmosphere in the team and see the current state of the project. I'm also going to do short interviews with the team members and YOU can tell me what to ask them!

On the Peach blog, Brecht introduced a new method of Ambient Occlusion called Approximate Ambient Occlusion. At the time of the post it was not available in the SVN, so in turn not available for use by the masses. But that has changed you can now find builds on graphicall.

Discovered by Len at Blenderartists. See post here. It seems some new things have been periodically posted in the Peach Media Gallery.
Update??: I don't recall seeing these. Little .ogg videos of some animation tests. Its possible these aren't new, but even if there aren't, someone could have missed them.
Please keep in mind Sago has clarified that this test is an early try and doesn't represent the current state.

Some great work by Andy is now visible on the Peach blog. The focus of the post there is on the strand renderer and particle system. The article goes into a good amount of detail describing the process of setting things up. An enjoyable read.
Note: Do to site outages and a few individuals having problems with the .ogg file format I've mirrored smaller videos on google video for those interested.
