Back in August, I covered the announcement from Mixamo, the online character animation service, regarding their support of Blender, using a Collada 1.4.1 import-based workflow. They recently followed up with me with the news that they have recently updated this Collada 1.4.1 importer for Blender 2.49b and are now hosting it on their Mixamo website, freely available to the Blender community.

Renderfarm.fi and Wreckamovie.com launch integration
Julius Tuomisto writes:
We’re excited to announce that new integrated functionality between Renderfarm.fi and the communal movie production website Wreckamovie.com has been launched. Users of Wreckamovie.com are offered a simple way to create an account on Renderfarm.fi, synchronize the accounts and add their own sessions from Renderfarm.fi as “shots” on Wreckamovie.com. As this is planned to be the first stepping stone in integration, we hope that the future will bring users of both services many more cool features.
Mixamo: Character Animation for Blender
Mixamo.com supplies motion-capture data, What makes it unique is their workflow: you upload your own (rigged) character, map the rig to theirs and choose an animation. Using their on-line editor, you can then tweak the animation before you download and use it. As of today, Mixamo actively supports Blender.

Shapeways switches to Blender for on-line rendering

Until recently, the previews were rendered in OpenGL and were rather bland looking. I was involved in the implementation of Blender on their webservers, in order to generate better quality previews. Here’s a look behind the scenes of this project.
