"I've been making this animation during the past 7 months in between my studies and work, and I seized the opportunity to use the animation for a short film competition in the Assembly 2008 demo party Assembly.org, held in Helsinki Finland every year.
JiriH is working on his "proof of concept" on how to make IK spine in Blender.
"This could also work quite well for tentacles, tails or even elephant trunks
:-) As in other cases of "little bit advanced" rigging in Blender good old
lattices do the trick."

For the last seven months I've been freelancing for a startup called Shapeways. Our mission is simple: we will make 3D printing (or 'rapid prototyping') accessible for everyone. Just upload your model as STL, Collada or X3D and we can produce it for you in a number of different materials.
Three of us have a history with Blender and used to work for Not a Number, so there's a lot of Blender work going on here in the office. It's a tough job ;-)
We're still in private beta, but I'll be giving away 500 invitations (more about that below).

The Virtual Museum of Computers in Ciudad Real, Spain, offers a walk through the history of computers. Next to their display of a cool array of old computers, they have also created a virtual walkthrough, using Blender in the process. And guess what: they're offering .blend files of all their models under a Creative Commons license. I talked to the technical director of the project, Carlos González Morcillo, who explained how they used Blender.

Some might have heard lately that fluid simulations in Blender are getting a new major feature - Fluid Control (also known as 'Magic fluid control'). Nils Thuerey developed the code and Daniel Genrich (Genscher) works on the integration and small fixes/enhancements.
Theres been some good progress lately and the first build is now up on graphicall.org for bug testing.

Bruno Postle tells us that "we recently built this monumental sculpture for Land Rover at the Goodwood Festival of Speed."
The 3D design was done entirely with Blender, the final geometry was extracted from the blender model with some custom perl scripting.
