Blender Manuals

Essential Blender

'Essential Blender', the latest book from the Blender Foundation, is your official guide to learning the fundamentals of this open and free 3D software suite. The book can be used as a step-by-step guide for people new to Blender or new to the latest changes in Blender. This book is the ideal companion for the previous 2.3 Blender guide.

Blender 2.3 Guide

The Blender 2.3 Guide starts with an extensive section for people who are new to 3D - explaining all basic concepts - or new to Blender. Then it shows in step-by-step tutorials the fun of creating models, adding motion to them, and how to turn them into stunning graphics and movies. Experienced 3D artists will appreciate the more advanced modeling and rendering sections, the character animation tutorials, the complete overview of Python, the Yafray section and of course the full reference to all Blender options.

Introducing Character Animation with Blender

Introducing Character Animation with Blender serves as an ideal starting point for anybody interested in creating engaging, convincing character animation, giving a thorough and practical introduction to the functionality of Blender.

Blender Manuals - Other languages

French: La 3D libre avec Blender

This book is between a Blender-guide and a tutorials book. It aims at beginners, but as it is fully compliant to Blender 2.42, all the latest and hot topics of Blender are reviewed and explained, including the nodes, the softbodies, the fluid simulation and many more.

Japanese: Blender Beginner's Bible

The new Japanese manual for Blender 2.42, aiming at the beginning Blender user.

Portuguese: Blender 3D - Guia do Usuário

The new Portuguese manual for Blender.

General 3D or Art related

Inspired 3D Short Film Production

Covering every aspect of the short-film production pipeline, this book demonstrates each concept and technique through a combination of general theories, examples, exercises, case studies, and interviews with short-film directors and industry specialists. Full of amazing imagery and one-of-a-kind content (including a robust DVD filled with dozens of award-winning short films) it is a must-read book for current and future animated filmmakers.

Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain

For those of you who are interested in learning to draw by hand, this book may be a big help: its concept is that all people can learn to draw what they see by using techniques to trick the right side of the brain to take over and block out the left side. This right side is the artistic side the left side the more analytical.
