Blender 3D and V-Ray TutorialHave you ever tried to use the script to integrate Blender and V-Ray? If you don't know how to use it, now there is a great video tutorial on how to use them.

The video was created by afecelis, from the BlenderArtists forums. In the video, afecelis teaches how to download, install and setup V-Ray and the Script to use with Blender. Visit this thread at the BlenderArtists, forums to download the videos. Yes, "videos" because afecelis has produced the tutorial in English and Spanish!

Is V-Ray windows only? if so, could you please in the future say so in the text, so we don't have to waste out time ?

    It is Windows only..

It's windows only but runs with wine on linux, the author of the script has made it as easy as possible to use even for those half hearted of you who just want to moan without even viewing the video or script.

It's obviously a waste of your time because guess what VRay isn't free or open source but it's damn good and worth every cent. It's for use with the standalone VRay bundled with Maya limited in render size for non licensed users and/or Beta release if you are happy to sign a Non Disclosure Agreement and get the full monty.

Now, thanks to the author of the script VRay is available to blender users.

It's cool, too bad the renders are so small though…

    Hey guys,

I'm glad you find the tuts useful. :D Vray-Maya is also available for Linux. The renders Andrey posted on his site were rendered were rendered in Linux as well as some of mine. To get the Linux/Windows full version (no size restriction) you must sign up to the beta program by sending an email at: vraymaya@chaosgroup.com
They'll send you a document with an NDA that you must print, sign, scan, and email back. If you're approved for the beta, they'll send you all the info to download it and get the license. What I don't know (specially after the new site launch yesterday, and the removal of the demo links) is if the beta program is still up. Just send the email to make sure, they might still be offering beta licenses ;)

    Regards,
    Alvaro

About running the demo in Linux via wine, you can check Ofuscado's guidelines:
    Spanish:
    http://zebus.wordpress.com/2008/04/03/vraydemo-para-blender/#more-48
English (translated via an online service):
    http://zebus.wordpress.com/vray_demo_en/

And the most important thing I forgot to mention is that none of this would be possible without Andrey's hard work and efforts. Andrey's planning to participate of the development of blender's new render API (to take his Vray integration to the next level) but he requires a team to be accepted, so if any of you feel like you could give him a hand please visit his site and let him know ;)

    Hey,

I guess this wont work with vray for C4D?? I'm pretty sure vray for C4D works on OS X.

  9. 9 afecelis

Nope, it won't work since there's no standalone version of the renderer. In C4d it also works as a plugin (Vraybridge). The only version so far that works as a standalone renderer is Vray for maya.

I know nothing adout the v-ray i want to know largest variety of rendering the scene I want to become a master mind in 3d max can you help me pls

Are we talking about a stand alone version of vray? or do we still need 3ds max or maya? If so it doesn't change a lot, you still have to buy a licence fr those programs, and they atre expensive…
