Blender Training Workshop: Richmond, VA, USA
Hand Turkey Studios (the company of Jason ‘Groo’ van Gumster, the blender.org gallery maintainer and Blender fluid wizard) is offering a Blender Training Workshop in Richmond, VA on the 12th of January.
Date: Friday, 12 January 2007
Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: The Work Factory (1113 West Main St., Richmond, VA 23220)
Cost: $45, payable via Cash, Check or Credit Card via PaypalWe will cover the basics of using Blender; becoming familiar with its interface and creating a 3D model and a small animation. Copies of Blender for all modern computing platforms and all files used in the workshop will be made available on CD for course participants.
There is limited space available, so please confirm your attendance early.
We will have a very limited number of computers on hand, so if you have laptop, it is highly recommended that you bring it with you. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting us.

I can’t help but wonder what exactly a ‘hand-turkey’ is and why their logo is a sheep? Probably another one of those American culture things I’m missing ;-)

I’m not even close to richmond but why don’t they offer char animation or something like that? 45 bucks for blender basics?

$45 dollars is cheap. I would have paid hundreds to have someone hold my hand through blender basics. Don’t be to harsh on a couple of guys trying to make a go at providing a valuable service.

I’m excited, not about the basics, but hopefully in the future he will do some advanced training. I’m only 45 minutes away from Richmond.
Hey Bart, thanks for posting this!
We do plan on offering more advanced training down the road. The reason we decided to start with the basics is because there’s not a whole lot of awareness about Blender in our area, so people around here need to be introduced to it. Once they have the basics down and are interested in more advanced training, we will offer workshops on those subjects as well. The feedback we’ve gotten back so far has been very positive. This is a very exciting time!
And paulR, you’re exactly right about the Hand Turkey and the sheep. :)
I just want someone to teach blender advanced stuff online – I’d pay for that. This looks pretty useful for those who like it.
I would like a workshop on modeling though. I really need a teacher for that.

I myself had a very good teacher for organic modeling and human animation… now guess who ? ;-)
