ff_magazine_03_2009If you’re looking for information on creating Flash content with Blender, you should check out Dennis Ippel’s weblog. He recently got published in the Flash&Flex Developer’s Magazine

Dennis writes:

The latest issue of Flash & Flex Developer’s magazine features an article written by me called “Blender to Flash Workflow”. This article explains how to:

  • create a simple 3D object in Blender
  • create a material in Blender
  • export the primitive and the material so that it can be used in Flash
  • set up a basic 3D scene using the Sandy 3D engine

You can preview the first page here.

The magazine is sold in stores in the United States and is available in PDF format elsewhere. I received the paper version in my mail yesterday and it looks absolutely great. There are articles for beginners, intermediate and advanced developers. You can find the list of articles here. Highly recommended!

I gave a simular presentation at the philips high tech campus.
Its pretty cool, but all still far away from a game engine. I guess I should put more effort in getting something done myself.

Is it possible to export animations too? Or how would one go about doing something like that?

Nice, now if I only had Flash. Or if we could export animations and such from blender to a flash file directly. Forget buying flash, just export form Blender. Ah but it’s only a dream. Hehe, still very nice. Very informative as well. A joy to read.

You don’t need Flash you can develop using the free Flex SDK.
