3Delight.jpg3Delight is a fast RenderMan-compliant renderer featuring multi-threading, ray tracing, global illumination, motion blur, depth of field, programmable shaders (RenderMan Shading Language support), quality antialiasing, and antialiased multi-depth shadow maps. It is available for a wide variety of platforms, including Windows, MacOS X, Linux and IRIX. The latest version of 3Delight (version 5.0) comes with a Maya plugin. But what about Blender? Recently, osxrules released for testing the much anticipated 3Delight to Blender export script on elysiun.

Please note: The first license is free and doesn't include support. The non-licensed version of 3Delight is only meant for testing and will have a 3DELIGHT watermark displayed across each rendered image. There are no other restrictions on the test version.

As Being one of the Modifiers to python script its nice to see it being picked up again, but then again its majorly flawed in its over all design. Plus there are new python api to features such as particles (able to get its position) and convert nurbs to polygons. I highly doubt I added my curves code into it since I branched off into my own and developed my own code, which is scattered across several of my scripts I worked on for blender to renderman in general.

Some I will suggest on building any export to renderman is make it render specific, because there is just too many ifs and the code will be far to large. Its gets big enough just from the Blender GUI alone, also you'll be able to impliment specific render features easier.

The Best Renderer to support would be the Aqsis, but I am still a Pixie user at heart.

Great comment on making renderman exports renderer specific. On the elysiun thread, animate78 and osxrules discuss this.

Pixie renders much faster then Aqsis. And in some cases faster then 3DElight.
