    The OSX intel version doesn’t seem to work at all on 10.4.x. I can’t even start it.

    @gopher

    on my imac (osx tiger 10.4.11) it works perfectly.
    probably you have to update to python 2.5.

    Indeed you’re right. I always just thought that python was only invoked when running scripts.

    If anyone hasnt already seen theres a new “verse” option which totaly kicks ass go to http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/VerseIntegrationToBlenderUserDoc to read how to get it running. Think of remote assistance for blender…its really cool and runs fast on a LAN!!! Its great if your teaching someone or colab. its super fun!!! and easy to setup once you know what to do, dont forget to change your name in the settigs where the frame server options are also! WHY ISNT THIS A BIG CHANGE THIS IS SOOOO COOL!!! i do alot of teaching at my school and this makes everything much much easier, its alittle laggy for large models but no crashes so far!

    Why isn’t there a build for OS-X Intel for Python 2.3? There was one for RC2. I’m sure there are other Mac users besides myself who still haven’t upgraded to OS-X 10.5.x (Leopard).

    I also plan to teach blender in classrooms.
    How do you use verse for teaching?

    I also used Verse and had a great fun! It really should be improved, still are problems with materials and modelling tools, modifers, bevel, etc.

    That’s great! I will prob. wait till the official build release instead of trying to learn how to get it compiled. ;) Verse sounds awesome, I want to use it someday.

    The cloth solver seems to A LOT faster. And even cloth on cloth simulations work really well and fast. As with all blender versions I also suffer from slow program behavoir (clicking buttons in panels for example) with this version on my macbook. Will there ever be a solution for all those using a macbook. A solution that speeds up blender without any odd other side-effects!? Does anyone have a solution?

    Any reason why it doesn’t work on win 98?
    2.46 RC1 did – what changed so radically?

    I know win98 is obsolete, but is the last license i bought. While i happily run Linux, i still use a win machine to maintain contact with the rest of the world…

    Great work of the developer – can´t wait on the final!!!!!

    Liking this, tried baking cloth…cool. And for everyone with problems i.e. it seems slower doesn’t like macbooks etc… I think this is called a “test” build, we know those nice folk at the Blender Foundation would never leave us hanging, well not for very long. I’ll bet they’re as keen as everyone to get it working across all platforms. but seriously, when can I get it for my psp?

    @marcus and drax
    ive tried using it for strictly modeling and help with normals, and issues. For example a ‘student’ (really a friend but iam teaching four people about blender) was workin on a car model and he was having a ‘double face’ issue and his faces were all over the place so while talking to him i showed him in real time which points would be connected best. i hope in the future they will add modifers and etc only issues i have come across is if the clients ‘undo’ it will loose the position and state of the object and will crash or will need to relaod the object (we were using a 24k tri model)

    Looks good so far. I tried a model with a little over 212000 polygons on my OS X system with 10.4.11 and no problems as far as I took it. I admit I don’t have the nerve to install for work, as I am coming up to finishing an important model, but I will have a play over the weekend.

    Even with over 212000 polygons I tried both 2.45 and the 2.46 RC3, and didn’t notice any great speed differences when handling modelling. I’ll try some timed rendering test over the weekend and compare the speeds.

    I downloaded RC4, and it’s insanely slow compared to the latest release, 2.45. I didn’t try RC3 or anything else before RC4, so I can’t really confirm the speed difference, but I suggest waiting for a final build or something.
