Hi!
I'm happy to announce that Blender++ 1.2 has been released! For those who don't know what Blender++ is, please just check it out here.Even if people claimed that Blender 2.5 will have a NetRender, Blender++ is different. It provides an open interface to the Blender internal that can be accessed by any application supports socket connections giving the chance to the user to submit, stop or check the status of the render on a single machine. Try it out yourself to understand what I mean :)
What has been added in version 1.2 is:
- Queue support
- Baked simulations render support
- Threads to use option
- Command line accessibility
- Bug fixes
Blender++ can be downloaded from Sourceforge and it's available for Windows, OSX and Linux or better every OS supports Python 2.6 and wxPython 2.8.2

I think the name is misleading. Now it suggest its a custom build of blender.
Anyway, im sticking to http://farmerjoe.info/
Yes, I too think name is misleading. For a moment I thoght someone compiled a modified version of blender
Sorry guys, but the name was picked up long time ago, not my fault ;)
I had the impression it's a custom build of blender as well. Lame.
Marco,
what horrible thing have you done by choosing that name!!! thou shall repent your sin to the blender community.
(ps: thank you)
Sounds usefull :) Thanks.
Am I the only person thinking, "Maybe they did something to blender and C++, and now you can use it in the BGE."
Well basically I chose that name just because I loved "Notepad++" when I saw it the first time on the web, thinking that adding ++ to an existing app was a cool and smart idea :)
I thought its Blender 3.5! XD XD You know, 'blender++' means 'blender = blender + 1'... XD Looks useful!
Thanks for sharing this tool!
But I will have to agree with
what's already been said here;
the name "Blender++ 1.2" makes
almost everyone think of a custom
build of Blender, NOT a render manager.
It may be a wise move to begin storming
some new name ideas for this dandy render manager.
This will be helpful for you in several ways:
1. More people will know right off the bat
what the program does (or at least have a better idea).
The name should be unique and memorable, while also possibly
describing what the program does.
2. People will be able to find it easier when searching
for it online instead of getting lost in the other "Blender" and "C++"
search results.
3. The puzzled looks from the Blender community will begin to fade
and we will stop asking for the name to be changed.
Thanks again for sharing this app with us!
Ok I see the point, I'm really open to suggestions if the name is really a problem :)
Blender++ was cool, but actually it's true that doesn't tell anything about the app itself.. I'll think about something more effective, if you have any suggestion just post it on my blog thanks :)
Thank-you for the contribution. Will also try it out. Being open source means more to offer, share and improve on...All for the benefit of the blender community/nation ;-)
Not to take away the weight of your contribution
I thought it was a programming language or some sort of API built ontop of blender(like Direct X)
Blender++ also gives the impression that it is an improvement or addition
But thank-you!!!
some names:
swarmrend (swarm meaning many. rend for RENDer)
swarmblend (swarm of blender renderers)
blendswarm (word play)
groupblend (group of blender renderers)
swarm++ (your beloved ++)
blendbuted (BLENDer distriBUTED)
blendbute (same)
blendibute (verb for the process of blender distributing)
Is there going to be support for tiled rendering / bucket rendering?
Will this be able to distribute a task over VPN?
Sometimes I wonder why developers even bother. I think it's a great app with lots of uses. Who would have thought that people would be so hung up over a name? I think it's very cool that Akta is so diplomatic about it:)
Here’s mine: From Blender++ to Blended++
Hi,
I agree, naming is crucial. I thought Blend++ is some sort of scripting language, why not BlendPy instead?
Suggestions for better naming:
BlendFarm (Blender render Farm)
BlenderFarm (Blender render Farm)
BlendFarm++ (Blender render Farm ++)
MarcBlendeRFarm (Marco's Blender render Farm)
MBRF (not master boot record format, but Marco's Blender Render Farm)
YAFBlenderFarm (Yet Another Free Blender Render Farm)
YAFBRF (same, or shorter YAFRF)

Broken_sword
Hey guys, thanks a lot for your feedback and suggestions!
Name is crucial, 100% agreed! It's how people will call what I did, so it has to be cool and easy to remember :)
I'll go over all the names listed here and see how to change the app name to a proper one!
Thanks again blenderheads :D
Is there any documentation?
I'm not able to detect the server by the client. When I start the server appears the following error:
"See the logfile 'G:\Blender++ 1.2_win32\Blender++ 1.2\server\blender_plus_server.exe.log' for details"
