Until a few days ago the well established game engine 'Unity' had a $200 indie version for purchase, which has now been dropped in favor of a free version. Great news for indie game developers and Blender users as Unity has a strong degree of Blender support built in.

Virgilio Vasconcelos has recently compared the render speed of the current version of Blender (2.49) with the latest 2.5 build (svn revision 23930). The render optimizations are thanks to Jaguarandi and his Google summer of code 2009 project. The results are very impressive!
David Ward has just finished a great DVD. We wrote earlier about his detailed youtube series- its now complete, online and also available on DVD. Plus, just to add to it, hes even helping out the Blender Foundation!
In the past 6 weeks there have been an amazing 1700 preorders for the Durian project DVD, 300 short of the goal, but a record amount for any Blender Foundation project so far and a great effort by the community!
Here's a very professional looking Pistol model made by Padfoot7726 over at Blenderartists.org. Its a great example of realtime art and the level of graphics possible with the Blender Game Engine these days.
Philippe Roubal has recently completed both a 4×4 drive system and a very cool looking tracks creator, which leaves tracks wherever your vehicle drives.

We wrote about this project earlier in the year, and it seems the guys working on 'Tube' are making great progress. The release of the project's second trailer has just gone online and its looking very cool!
Recently entered into the Blender Game Contest was a beautifully made game entitled 'Megagolf' by Supersocks on BA. This is a true example of what can be achieved currently with the BGE, both with graphics and gameplay.
Endi has just informed us of a commercial game being made by him and the team he is currently working with. The game is called 'Ignite' and is a car racing game for the PC.
The Blender Store or 'E-Shop' has just had a major makeover. Now its looking more pro than ever!
