Bart: I think you might be right that the informations about the ad-blocker activated would probably be as much annoying as the ads themselfs. Thus, I think that the best solution is the simplest one: to disable the plugin on the webpages you use very often. I do that all the time, maybe not with all sites but with the ones that are not abusive with their ads, like blendernation.com for example.

@ccherret: oh, and by the way – I'll look into an adblocker detection script, but I'm worried that people may find that more annoying than the ads themselves. How do you feel about that?

@ccherret: I'm blaming nobody, just stating how things are :) And yes, I use an ad-blocker too. I just unblock sites that I tend to read a lot so I can properly support them. Anyway, you're free to make up your own mind and use this site however you see fit!

Realize that if you use an ad blocker for this site you end up missing all the great ads for blenders and other household appliances that show up hear every once in a while.

Bart,

Who can blame us for using Ad blocking. Ads suck at the best of times. Blocking Ads eliminated most if not all of the porno type links.

I would think that site owners would need to get creative in dealing with that problem because ad blocking is here to stay.

You could detect if an ad blocker is running and prompt with a plea to disable for this site.

It will take some effort, because I for one would not stop using an ad blocker. It is the only thing that makes browsing worth while for me.
