A Good Use of Creative Commons and Blender.
Bassam Kurdali reports about the use of his Mancandy video:
“When I made the Mancandy FAQ for the Blender Institute, we licensed the content as CC BY (the audio as CC BY NC) – mainly because the Blender Institute is committed to free/open code and media, and not in the business of making closed content. The value of something is enhanced (I think) every time someone uses it for a new and unexpected purpose.”
“Still, I thought that other than educational value, the video on the Mancandy FAQ was (intentionally) rather silly, and probably not versatile enough for lots of re-mix/re-use.
So you can imagine I was pretty surprised when I was contacted by Steve Lyon, from the noprofit accessibleevents about using some of the animation (under the terms of both the CC and CC NC licenses) for use in a video about Sexuality After Spinal Cord Injury (please note this is the work in progress video)
As a final addendum, Steve has informed me that he is working on another video about a boy with spina bifida; if anyone has time or content to help with the project, it would be wonderful to put together to show how the birth defect evolves – so anybody interested in helping out?”
Editor’s note: Explicite language and content used in the video. This is a frank and honest discussion of sexuality after a major injury so If the kids are around you may wish to view this later. Or you could stop viewing the video after the animated opening.
This a great use of Blender. We all need to know how our bodies work and animation is a practical way of educating about these processes. Thanks Bassam, Ton and all the developers of Blender for this wonderful too.

Kudos and great to see that content can be put to practical use to make the world a better place.
It is a very good thing to see Blender used in various areas of applications.

Comment on the Editor’s note: Why are you afraid? The bible contains a very detailed description of 10 cases of incest in only one book. You should keep your Bible away from children if you are serious about that.
You should also mention that the video uses some of the music that Jan Morgenstern did for BBB.
Hedge, me, I’m not, but there are hundreds of thousands of readers from around the world from many different cultures and beliefs who come to this site. So I give them a warning so they can make their own decision about what to read. I have received comments in the past from some readers that have children and they share their Blender experience with them which is a wonderful thing for family, I’d hate to ruin that.
