Hark now and listen. This is one of those things that you think would be so obvious to animators, but is so often a problem for beginners.
It’s comparable to browsing on the internet with either broadband or dialup (well, maybe not that extreme). The more time that you sit waiting for a page to load is time lost that could have been used otherwise. Every little part lost isn’t that much, but eventually it adds up.
Maybe it’s starting to sound old but :
“You learn something new everyday”
I only regret that the tutorial is not that much detailed about the Approximate AO.
Like, is it in the current blender version? Is it a prototype?

PS : After re-reading it might appear as if I didn’t know where the AAO is activated. I do.
But it would have been nice to detail that in the tutorial in the same way other things have been detailed :)
Like : “Approximate ambient occlusion can be activated in the Ambient Occlusion panel in the world buttons, by choosing the Approximate instead of the Raytrace gather method.”

I’ve added some more info for the AAO section. The AAO feature was one of the many benefits that came from the Big Buck Bunny project so, it’s in the current version of Blender.

It would be so nice to get real proper OpenGL preview rendering, especially for animations. With current Game Engine advances this can get pretty useful, but at the moment the OpengGL rendering doesn’t really do a good job (for e.g. object centers, rigs. get drawn, world settings get ignored, no subdivisions, etc.). It would be nice to push the results closer to what the internal render does.

Nice to play this “Border Render” ,it stills wait to a damm to render ,
but at last only the part i want to check .
Render Simplification not tested ,but to my pre configuration ,
those features is what i want to see on the render test .
High: Subsurf,Ambient Occlusion and Shadow Samples .
What is a powerfull fast computer to fast render these full features and complex scenes,
only for the thought when i imaginate waiting the render …..
Oh and even if it looks amazing ,iam not that good .But its for what im giving a try .
