En Passant Trailer
A preview of a very promising production – the first musical in Blender!
Chris Burton writes:I’ve been collaborating with songwriter Leeran Raphaely to produce what might well be Blender’s first musical, En Passant! It’s been in production for two years (even before my last film, The Light At The End, was finished), and this week we’ve released the trailer and website.
The synopsis
Home for Leilah is the fortress lair of her crime lord father; her family the mobsters who terrorise a world from which she is protected. But when she gets a taste of the outside, she realises the real darkness lies not on lawless streets, but deep within herself.
More than 40 artists, actors and musicians around the world have generously lent their talents to our budget-free project, including modellers Jonathan Lampel, Andy Cocksey, and our Technical Supervisor (rendering mastermind) Greg Zaal.
The film will be completed within the next month or two, and we hope we can give it a good festival run before releasing it online next year. Thanks!

The film does look promising. Also, nice use of the Cell Fracture addon.
Yeah trailer looks awesome, very filmic and dark, but I have never liked a single musical in my life. I hope I’ll like this one…
Looks awesome. Love the name. First heard it when Bobby Fischer used it against some opponent in the 60’s?
@rickisen: It’s definitely made with non-musical fans in mind. I can assure you that at no point do the characters join hands, turn to the camera and sing/dance in unison ;)
Looks promising.
But I have to say that I read the title from a bit far, did not see the small a, and at first did read the “A” as an “I”, which in french makes the title is not exactly the same :)
The only musical I ever liked was The Jungle Book, but the animation here looks amazing!
