About Posting ‘First!’
A quick note to our visitors who like to post ‘first!’ as a comment: I’m getting more and more reactions from people who find this annoying. It was fun for a while, but we’ve seen enough of those. Let’s keep comments on topic – ‘first’ posts will be removed from now on, thanks!

Spam messages are usually filtered out anyway.
Nobody gives a fuck if you’re first posting on a thread on the internet.
Most likely there are others before you who read the post/article/thread.
You’re probably some dumb kid, even if you made a comment along with your “first”.
It’s not like you climbed mount Everest or something, it’s just garbage data, similar to spam.
I guess we need to give it more time before people will start acting up nicer on the internet.
Same goes for second, third and so on…

hehe, when you work with software, which requires a lot of work around action to take I came up with a work around!
What if the post would be like this:

To be honest, I’m not sure why a “first” post would be that annoying. It’s not loud or obtrusive. It’s a single work that’s five letters long and easily ignored. Sure it doesn’t add value to the article or discussion, but from what I’ve read a lot of comments (some of them my own, I admit) are in the same boat: non-constructive.
If I were you, Bart – which I’m not obviously (since you’re famous and all) – I’d not waste my energy on such comments. Removing spam and hate, sure .. “first” posts almost seems like a waste of your time.
Famous people need weird hobbies, like scanning for ‘first post!’ ;-)

I don’t mind a ‘first’ posting providing there is some real content also posted. Posting ‘first’ by itself is annoying; just what are you trying to say?
I like this, gave me great laughs, reading all the comments. And yea the “status” posts are a great outlet.
How it related with blender?
I don’t find it the least bit annoying, but I’m probably just too lenient.
Thanks, I also find them mildly annoying in that they don’t contribute anything useful to the topic at hand.
Blender need a site for Professional only, Ton has announced that I am still waiting for it.
Blender is ok but something you just wish people were not allowed to comment which make the whole
site feels like: not for professional but for jockers only.

I don’t find posting “first” to be so bad. I think it’s kind of fun to have a goal to try and be the first to post on something. I guess to some people it would be annoying though.

Disagree 100%. This is not a problem, and it’s not worth making a post about. It’s not offensive, it doesn’t hurt anyone.
This is a problem on the level of mixing up your Star Trek cannon. It isn’t. Every person who agrees wholeheartedly has OCD issues.
Still, feel free to delete such comments.
Well, it’s fine to disagree. That doesn’t mean everybody who doesn’t share your view has a mental problem though.
