I think the Splash image fits just perfect, is exactly how Blender artists and developers will stare at 2.5 :)

@trinty5150 it might not be as long as you think, there was an interview, dig through a couple of pages, a while back where Ton mentioned having a rough demo for SIGGRAPH and Durian is meant to use 2.50. This release as well as been a swansong to the 2.4X releases could be meant as a bridge to 2.50 as people transition.

I am really looking forward to trying out the projection painting of this release. texture seams begone :-).
But what is it with this rather lousy splash. The were so many entires to the contest that IMHO had stronger and better compositions than this.

I guess I'll have to recompile blender. This splash is too dark and scene is poorly organized. The splash from 2.48 was awesome. And previous Blender versions had better images. Why this one is so bad? Where were these all three judges? There were like a five nice and vivid splashes in the last contest and they didn't get through. Obviously this splash is not the one people want to see every time opening Blender.
I hope there'll be a version soon which implements an option to set splash screen manually without recompiling blender.
