   Twitter link doesn't show anything interesting. If it means a search only works when signed in…. fail.

   But a release became imminent when the last RC was released :P

   That's an awesome splash screen! I hadn't seen that work before, but I love it.

   eeeeeeeeewwww I like this! Pixologic gave me presents this week too, so it feels like Christmas!!!

   Really good image .
   But for a software display of it ,in my opinion the ultmate best was that orange fruit
   from version 2.2 i guess .
   Second til now the Gecko that war well made (kind of insult the image) but the colors and all …

    If you compile right now from the SVN you will have the 2.49.

    I'm just waiting for new Release Logs on Blender site with some info about new features :] beackause I wan't to know something about them to use them ;] Having them isn't goal.

    Well, not a fan of the splash, mainly because I had one in myself that lost :( but also the composition seems a little so-so to me. I like some of the other work on the site much better, seems more "finished" but, in any case…. Congratulations to Clemens!

    I can't wait.

    You can always replace it pretty easily… Also, is the sim physics branch going to be updated to 2.49 anytime soon?

    I'm still waiting for release 2.5 to come out. I know it will be a long time from now though.

    I don't like a little this Splash.
    Unfortunately, Mookie didn't take participation in contest with his Vampire :(

    I guess I'll have to recompile blender. This splash is too dark and scene is poorly organized. The splash from 2.48 was awesome. And previous Blender versions had better images. Why this one is so bad? Where were these all three judges? There were like a five nice and vivid splashes in the last contest and they didn't get through. Obviously this splash is not the one people want to see every time opening Blender.
    I hope there'll be a version soon which implements an option to set splash screen manually without recompiling blender.

    @trinty5150 it might not be as long as you think, there was an interview, dig through a couple of pages, a while back where Ton mentioned having a rough demo for SIGGRAPH and Durian is meant to use 2.50. This release as well as been a swansong to the 2.4X releases could be meant as a bridge to 2.50 as people transition.

    I am really looking forward to trying out the projection painting of this release. texture seams begone :-).
    But what is it with this rather lousy splash. The were so many entires to the contest that IMHO had stronger and better compositions than this.

    I think the Splash image fits just perfect, is exactly how Blender artists and developers will stare at 2.5 :)
