This is *very* last minute, but the 2.44 Splash screen contest started last Sunday and will end, erm.., tomorrow! Details on BlenderArtists.org. Maybe next time, someone will let us know a bit earlier? ;-)

Indeed! To make some of the great submissions shown in that thread, I need at least advance notice of at least one or two years ;-)

imho very nice splashes, blender community is creating and also getting very good artists

i know i know. whole release caught me off guard totally. i just suddenly noticed release candidate is already out.. haven’t been following the dev chats recently :(
about the “fightclub”-line, it’s funny isn’t it.. always the same thing, people don’t get it. but, it only makes it better .. atleast i think so. heh heh.. :)

Any of KevinW’s images are my vote. I love em’ all, and they’re my favorites.

Is there a way to put your own splash screen in without compiling it? just make it an jpg in the blender folder for example.

Hey all: I just followed the link to the definition of splash screen (I was really bored at work) and they have link to a GUIdebook of splash screens. Under 3D software they only have Max and Maya (and max has probably the most boring splashes around.) We should upload Blender’s They are way better than most of the stuff on the site.
