300,000 Free Creative Commons 3D Models Available on Sketchfab

5

Sketchfab just reached a new milestone of 300,000 freely downloadable models, available under a Creative Commons license.

Sketchfab writes:

We are excited to announce that there are now over 300,000 free downloadable 3D models available on Sketchfab. This vast 3D catalog is an amazing resource created by artists, designers, cultural organisations, and brands from around the world.

This milestone is a great symbol of how Sketchfab has become the place to find free 3D assets, and also the best way for artists to publish their 3D creations for other people to reuse and build upon.

Use the 'downloadable' search filter to find what you need. Don't forget to properly credit artists if you use their work! Here are some pointers.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

      • I doubt they are ?
Just had a try and then I read something like
        "Free download for non-commercial use!"

I was looking for models which I can use in a tutorial (obviously that is though since those models would be included in the scene files), couldn't find much.

It is a mix of, cc non commercial, some cc, some are not free. The 300k free models is kind of fake indeed.

        • Not fake at all, Sketchfab currently has more than 500,000 Creative Commons that are free to use. Following Creative Commons, some do have restrictions on commercial use. One problem that we're aware of is that the download gallery contains a mix of free and paid 'Store' content - this will be resolved soon.
