Animating a Tripod in Blender

10

Stefano SottoZen writes:

Hello guys,

In this video we modeled, texturized and animated an alien tripod to move around London city. After modeling the Tripod (concept taken from "war of the worlds") i rigged it in the way that it can moves like half way mechanical and organic. This was quite easy rig set up made with Blender rigging tools. Let me know if you can be interested in a video tutorial explaining the whole process of animating and tracking it into the real footage. I will be glad to make one in case.

  1. super cool! I've always loved the sense of dread those tripods can create.

I'm about I dive into a project with some similar technical challenges (particularly the mechanical/organic hybrid feel), so seeing your process for rigging and animation would be great inspiration!
