Did you unwrap this model before exporting it to 3D-Coat?
Yes I did, sorry that we can't see this in the video because I just did a Smart UV Unwrap. For a professional model I would unwrap it in Blender or in 3D-Coat manually.
What is the advantage in using this program as opposed to using Blender to create metal look, dirt nodes etc?
3d-Coat has pbr materials which blender currently doesn't have out of the box.
