"An old blind man is on his way to a cafe to get his morning cup of coffee. Can he foresee what's going to happen? No.."
Another cool low-poly style short film. Lovin' it :)

Why it's named cool, it's really sad movie.( It's well made, but sad.
Same here, pretty sad movie.
Sad movie. :(
Well made, it proves that good animation is more important than VFX, but sad. It is, maybe, because of habitt that short movies are usualy funny.
It laks solid twist for a short story (blind man ordering coffe in this situation is not a twist, just a bit morbid situation, twist would be to find something unexpected), or a bit more of story development. This is actually illustration of what actualy may happen, with no deeper development of characters, more interactions, or true moral of the story (unles it is: "duck when you see the man with a gun"), just shock.
But again, solid animation, nice use of resourcers (minimalistic aproach does not require a renderfarm and still creates believeable atmosphere), and good perspective for animator, just need a better story.
Hey, thanks for your feedback! I see your point, though my vision is a bit different.
By the way, I ended up actually using a renderfarm, but it was rendered pretty fast.
Wow! I absolutely love it.
As for the 'plot twist critique' by AS, I have to say I didn't find it necessary in this case. Short stories don't always need that. I'm just now reading the short stories of Ernest Hemmingway (which are brilliant btw) and they also often times don't have any of the things mentioned in AS's critique.
Maybe a small change you could've made would be leaving out the gunshot sound-effect so that the viewer is kept in suspense until the very end.
Just my two cents here :)
But again, amazing work.
Thanks a lot!
This is actually the second time I hear this idea about cutting the gunshot sound :) I'm gonna give it a shot and see if I need to leave it there or not.
Short stories are a bit different, just a mater of expectations, I think. Jack London, Ernest Hemmingway and thousand others told great short stories, without a twist, or greater moral of the stories etc. Just plain great stories. Fight of a man with nature, with himself etc.
As I sad before, perhapse it is a habit of expecting certain strucure of animated shorts.
It's great work undeniably, and could probably seamlesly fit in a professional lecture about todays world. I just said how i feel about it.
You are quite right about most animations being funny/having a plot twist at the end etc.
I just wanted to tell the creator of the short that I didn't agree with your opinion about the story "lacking" a plot twist in this particular case.
It wasn't my intention to make it seem as though you didn't have a right to your opinion if that's how it looked, just that I had a different one ;)
Wow! Absolutely brilliant! Well done...
Thanks!
i think the Slurpee gave him a brain-freeze
nice camera motion and animation, also love the use of low quality models and black/ white color it add to the "sadness" of the story
well done
Thanks! By the way that Slurpee bit wasn't something I originally planned. Matthew Simmons, who did voice acting for the robber character, just added that line, and I ended up keeping it and tweaking the story for it to play nicely :)
Great job. Very well done.
Thank you!
Wow, this is amazing. Normally I would say this needs more samples but the noise actually adds to the 'grittiness' of the imagery!
Thanks!
Yeah, I use this as an excuse :)
I really like it, teach me master¡¡¡
