3D Artist Magazine: The Ultimate Blender Masterclass

0

3D Artist Magazine has dedicated their latest issue to Blender, featuring five Blender artists and their work.

We’re big fans of Blender at 3D Artist.

Its power, diversity and the passion of its community is quite astounding for an app that many people palm off due to it being open source. Surely by now it’s more than capable enough to stand up against the big guns?

This month we’ve spoken to five veritable Blender masters about their approach to various aspects of the pipeline including materials, compositing and sculpting – if you’re a non-believer then these guys will change your mind. If you’re already on Team Blender, then this should serve as inspiration for you to take away and apply in your own work.

We’re hearing of more and more studios adopting Allegorithmic’s line of Substance tools in recent months – Substance’s inexorable rise shows no signs of slowing, and so we’ve spoken to experts from Ubisoft, Treyarch and more about what makes these texturing tools so intuitive and so vital in the games industry.

On top of all of this key industry insight, later in the magazine you’ll find non-destructive modelling in Blender, sci-fi environments in Terragen, real-time texturing, V-Ray lighting, abstract landscapes in 3ds Max and part one of an awesome advanced animation tutorial in Maya. There’s a lot we can learn from each other, and this issue is a great place to start. Enjoy!

Steve :)
