RenderStreet announces flat-fee rendering service

10

RenderStreet has added a new 'all you can eat' service. It has limited availability (due to scaling issues, I imagine).

Marius Iatan writes:

Behold! There's a new render plan in town.

This year started at full throttle for us at RenderStreet with the launch of our newest program for Blender users. It has a different approach to rendering, and it's the result of our user interviews and of the feedback we received, while trying to understand their way of working. While each user has his own particular working pattern, we have been able to identify some common needs.

We learned that there are users who need to have a constantly available rendering resource, which they can use in all stages of creating a project, without any added rendering costs. We wanted to address that need, and last week we announced the RenderStreet ONE program.

Because we want to deliver the best experience for our users, there's a limit to the number of accounts we can offer. So if you are interested, make sure to secure your spot now.

  1. Confusing: "Make 3D art. Skip the render fees."
But just above that it says it will cost either $50 month or $2.99+/hr, so exactly what fee are you skipping?

    • You are right, the last line is a bit confusing.
With the ONE program, you get to skip the rendering hourly fees associated with rendering on-demand. 1 hour of daily rendering would add up to $150/moth vs.paying $50 with ONE.

  2. well.... after having rendered one relatively small job with hourly rates, that cost about 18 or 19 dollars and took about 4-5 hours. I think $50 is not bad to be able to render as much as you'd like for an entire month.. Only if your frames take more than 20 minutes on their 32 thread xeon servers with 32Gb of memory do you have to pay the additional $2.99.... So you could potentially save a lot of money...
But i guess you don't skip the fees, just make them a lot smaller.. :)

    • Thanks Carl, you summed it up well.
Besides the single fee, the program is designed for people who want an always-on resource they can offload their work to. This ensures a better control of the results, making the 3D renders more available throughout the process.

        • Carl, we're working as fast as we can to prepare for the launch, and it's closer by each day :) If you're in a hurry or need something 'yesterday', you can always use our regular on-demand service to make your client happy.

          • Carl Erik Tengesdal on

I know that.. :) Don't worry, i'm just rambling.. Can't wait till it's up and running, it's going to be really great.

  3. The render time per frame it's limited. So it would be great if you could show some benchmark to know the speed of your render nodes. I work with GPU, so I'm not aware of the time a CPU render takes.

    • The ONE service is cpu only.. You'll have to add 2.99/hour for GPU.. And i guess that would be the On Demand thingy.. :) You can cancel after a month if you want to, at least that is how i understood this....

    • We are looking into putting an estimator for this program, so you can see how long it will take (approximately) to render your frame on our servers. It will be similar to one in our pricing page, but it will show the time estimate per frame. In the mean time, you can use our regular service to see what the speed is.

Regarding the subscription, there is no minimum time, you can keep it alive for just one month. However, once you cancel you will be able to rejoin depending on the availability of open spots at that moment.
