Commercial NPR Animation

Vertex Crossmedia used Blender for a 'Polar Express' themed animation.

Matthew McComb writes:

I'm writing to share the success we are having with Blender, to prove that this software is a capable and viable option for 3d animation and motion graphics in the commercial arena.

Vertex Crossmedia was approached by the premiere healthcare provider, Aultcare, to bring their 2014 Holiday eCard to life. We chose Blender to do just that. Video here:

Through several brainstorming sessions, we all landed on a “Polar Express” theme that showcased specific landmarks throughout the Canton, Ohio community. As the creative director on this project, I wanted to provide an illustrated storybook feel to the animation. Blender's capable toolset and in-line node compositor was great at providing the specific look that we needed. The rendered PNG sequences were composited into the final video in AfterEffects CC. I have included a few screen-shots and a composite sample of the project:

We use Blender exclusively for any 3D needs for all of our clients, such as Nokia, The Cleveland Browns, Provia Doors, and many others. Our work can be found at www.vertexcrossmedia.com.

Happy Blending!
