Animator_mojtab created this very realistic landscape scene. The kicker: it only took 3 minutes to render!

Blender / render blender / render time 3minute

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. You made a beautiful image.
3 minutes rendering, I also want a computer like this, I am therefore very curious about your computer and your grafichekaart.

    • IMHO it's not about the computer, but about the engineery of the author optimising the scene in the context of an already fast renderer as it is the Blender Internal. This renderer can have a ton of downsides compared to Cycles or the so-called modern renderers, but regarding the speed of results in simple, or not so simple, scenes, I think Cycles still can't beat the Internal.

And other than the slight stiffness of trees and the slightly "pasted" rainbow, I think this image manages to create the intended atmosphere. Nothing to do, BTW and a first glance, with the choosen renderer.

  2. It is a beautiful render, but the one thing that I would change (if I had this talent) would be to fix the scale of the "path" to the trees and posts.

  3. Great stuff! Would be nice if you could make a tutorial on this. May I suggest you make the blades of grass and the leaves somewhat translucent using SSS?

  4. Wow, nice image. What I am thinking about is the rainbow... IMO it shouldn't be there because sun light is coming from the left. how should it be created physically??? I just mention this because of your atempt to make a realistic landscape scene...
    But anyway, nice render.
