A good camera tracking by Blenderrendersky. To me, the most surprising part was not the robot - can you guess what was?

I do not think the cars are fake...
He used the car to get reflections on the actual car in the scene.

Great job on the roto-scoping! Must have been tedious.
Actually there was no roto-scoping to do, I also used the car to mask the robot. Easy going when you have the scene reconstructed nicely ;P
the footage cars aren't fake... the 3d mockups were used for light/shadows and reflections only I guess

What was your technique on getting the reflections of the robot without the mockup geometry showing, or for that matter the shadows being double casted by the mockup geometry?
The car was on another render layer which only rendered the glossy reflection rays. Then I had a second model of the car on another layer which only rendered the shadows. Porpably there´s an easier way, but it worked for me.
