In this CG Masters tutorial, Aidy Burrows shows you how to use the grid to create angular assets.
Aidy Burrows writes:
In this installment of the game development series we'll take a look at modularity. So we'll need to use blender's grid.
- What is modularity?
- Should you use it in your project?
- Why would anyone want to use it?
- What are the limitations?
Here’s a quick glance at some key pros and cons…
Pros >
- Build large environments quickly
- Do we really need another?
Cons >
- Extra planning time required at the start.
- Can look repetitive, boxy or mechanically aligned.
Something that i've never seen touched on much are the odd angles that you'll need to rotate assets by to keep things on the grid so we'll make sure to take a look at that.
In the next installment I'll have the blockout demo prototype for you if you'd like to play the basic premise. Until next time!!!
