Model Download: iPhone 6

11

By Stephan Deutsch.

This is a blender model I created on the iPhone 6. I could only work from the reference images from the Apple site, hence I cannot refer to any actual reference I had in my hand. It comes with material set-up in cycles for all three colour variants which you can change in the materials with a factor setting. Full documentation on the model is available. This is fan art – all brands, designs etc. of the iPhone are copyright by Apple, they again created a really nice piece of hardware. One comment: The original iPhone has rounded edges for the highlight stripes, but I used meshed based shading rather than texture, hence mine are sharp. I hope you like the model and can use it in your work. Happy blending!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • Hi Thomas. No, it is not actually rigged for bending - I have to admit that I needed to go to the Internet to seek out the joke - now I can certainly add "haa haa hahaaa :-)))" to the comments field. Made my day! Although you have to admit that being able to bend it by sitting on it is a nice feature. Sitting on phones should be mandatory. :-)

For deforming the model I recommend a lattice as astrand130 stated. But if you see the reports, the weak spot seems to be at the button cut-out for the loudness. In blender you could add a solidify modifier to it to give the mesh more strength, that should help prevent bending. Alternatively we could use an n-gon for the case - that cannot bend as not enough vertices ;-)

      Happy blending, Stephan
