3D Data visualization with D3.js and Blender

0

Nobuyuki Hirakata has documented his experiments with exporting data through the D3.js library, to visualize it in Blender.

D3.js is data visualization library of Javascript which enable us to visualize data with svg element.
On the other hand, Blender is an open source 3D computer graphics application. For 3D data visualization, there are some ways to do it.
D3 is data oriented, Blender is 3D oriented. Both of these need a buddy tool as their side to compensate the weak spot. D3 is a browser-side library, so D3 can be in conjunction with a browser 3D library like three.js.
Blender can also be used with data through importing data files like CSV.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
