Rob Tuytel has transformed his Golden Age material into a fascinating VR experience using an Oculus Rift, Unity and Blender. Today he shares a teaser video and a heads up about the upcoming crowdfunding campaign.
The golden Age VR is wrapping up for launch, to finalize the project we start a crowdfunding campaign, not to realise a project, but to fund the instalation/integration of the project into the Museum of Golden Age arts in the Netherlands.
Thats right, the project is in the final stage of development, so we are not looking for funding to start a project, we already completed that process in the past 2 years.
The golden Age VR is about a dutch city in the 17th century, you can walk around and explore the town and discover the most beautifull hotspots. But the most epic thing of all, you can explore the city with the oculus rift what makes it mindblowing.
Everything was created by the use of Blender, we used Unity to put everything together with the support of the oculus rift.
On september the 26 we start the funding campaign, we are focusing on dutch crowd, but I also like to show the project to the Unity/Blender community with the question, is there something you like to have as a reward to fund the campaign. Think about e-book about the working proces with Blender + Unity, or maybe you like some cool medieval assets, or even a demo world so you can explore a medieval town with your own eyes, just an idea.
Some know me from Blenderpedia, I quit making tutorials, my dream is creating projects like i'm working on right now, but if there is a need for creating a course on how to use blender and unity to make games, I can realise that od course.
let me know, love to share my knowledge with the community, only together we can make awesome projects that shows the power of Blender.

I like these Model Earth renders when they were done with Blender Internal. These new ones with Cycles doesn't look as good as the ones using Blender Internal.
This is not cycles, this is realtime 120 fps unity :)
